War and Peace in Surrey, 1914-1919

On Saturday 20 July 2019, we will host the Surrey in the Great War finale event at Dorking Halls, to coincide with the centenary of Peace Day (19 July 1919).  This was a day of celebrations to mark the official end of the war, after the signing of the Treaty of Versailles on 28 June 1919, when Germany ceded to the Allies.

We will be hosting an exciting day of talks, exhibitions, film, sound, re-enactors and children’s activities.  Keep your eyes peeled, and keep checking this page for event updates.

My Pen and Sword book Aldershot in The Great War (home of the British Army) reflects the close relationship of North Hampshire to Surrey. It also includes reference to Ewshot a major New Zealand base. I have given talks about WW1 in this to various history groups in the south and could do so at your show.
