David Diment signed up on the 12th December 1915 when he was 24 and stated that he was a cowman on a farm. This was two days after his brother John had joined. He was posted with the Army Service Corp’s Motor Transport, Regiment Number 169048. In 1916 David saw active service with the Army Service Corp in France, he came home on the 2nd September 1916, shortly after the death of his younger brother Albert. David’s leg never truly healed and he was medically discharged from the army suffering from an ulcerated left leg on the 28th April 1917. Although he was only 24 he was considered 25% unfit for employment and issued with a Silver War Badge.
