Taken from the Surrey Comet, 11 November 1916

“[Sergeant] Albert Treadaway, of the East Surrey Regiment, was killed in France on September 25, at the age of 21. At the outbreak of war he was one of the earliest to enlist in Lord Kitchener’s Army.  He was the youngest son of the late Mrs Treadaway, of Pemberton road, East Molesey, who died about nine months ago.  A native of Molesey, he was educated at the Church of England Boys’ School, Park road under Mr B.J. Bonar, and his bright and cheerful description endeared him to a large circle of friends by whom his early death is greatly regretted.  There are three of his brothers serving their country.”
