Entered Royal Navy service 30 May 1904 aboard HMS Impregnable. 1911 census shows Potter was then a Leading Telegraphist with the Navy in the Far East. Awarded Naval General Service Medal (Persian Gulf). Parents' address in 1916: 34 Clifton Road, Kingston-on-Thames (CWGC). Remembered on the Chatham Naval Memorial.

  • Other Information: During the Battle of Jutland, two German ships fired three salvoes each at HMS Invincible and sank her in 90 seconds. Of her complement, 1026 officers and men were killed, including Rear-Admiral Hood. There were only six survivors picked up by HMS Badger.
